Vibration-induced White Finger (VWF) is the most common symptom of hand arm vibration syndrome (HAVS).
Vibration White Finger affects workers using vibratory, rotating or percussive hand guided power tools. |
 |
|
The symptoms of Vibration White Finger are debilitating and can limit the jobs an affected person is able to do,
as well impacting on many social activities. The symptoms do not become apparent immediately after the initial exposure to
vibration and workers may not complain of symptoms for months or even years after exposure.

you may be eligible to make a compensation claim for Vibration White Finger. |

It is not clear how vibration causes the condition.
It is probably due to slight but repeated injury to the small nerves and blood vessels in the fingers.
Over time these may gradually lose some of their function and cause symptoms.
It has been estimated that up to 1 in 10 people (5 million workers) who work regularly with vibrating tools may develop Vibration White Finger. |

Every year approximately 3,000 new claims for Industrial Injury Disability Benefit are made for vibration white finger and
vibration related carpal tunnel syndrome. |
